Eindelijk, zij het pas na vijftig jaar, een boek over H.P. Blavatsky dat de ernstige bestudeerder de mogelijkheid biedt kennis te maken met deze uniek figuur.
Vele boeken zijn reeds over Helena Petrovna Blavatsky geschreven. Boeken, waaruit een grote en soms blinde verering spreekt, en boeken die op niet mis te verstane wijze een vernietigend oordeel uitspreken. Doch geen van deze geeft een inzicht in hetgeen H.P. Blavatsky werkelijk was.
Terecht hebben de schrijvers van dit boek gemeend, dat men een persoonlijkheid als H.P. Blavatsky slechts in werkelijkheid leert kennen, indien men kennis kan nemen van het werk dat werd verricht.
In dit boek wordt de lezer een beeld geschetst van het Mysterie, dat zij zowel voor haar tijdgenoten als voor velen heden ten dage bleef.
Maar tevens wordt de oplossing van het Mysterie gegeven door een uiteenzetting van de leringen die zij aan de westerse wereld bracht en waarmee zij zo verweven was, dat de kennis van die leringen tevens de oplossing biedt voor het Mysterie.
Niemand was beter in staat de sluier van dit Mysterie weg te nemen dan haar opvolgers na William Quan Judge, de beide schrijvers van dit boek. Zij kunnen spreken met gezag, omdat zij evenals Helena Petrovna Blavatsky hun leven hebben gewijd aan het verspreiden van die Archaïsche Wijsheid, die de eeuwen trotserende immer actueel blijkt te zijn.

Biografische schets

Deze uitgebreide en zeer volledige biografie is het resultaat van 14 jaar onderzoek en schrijven, en geeft een fascinerend verslag van het leven en werk van Helena Blavatsky. Onschatbaar bronnenmateriaal, oorspronkelijk in het Russisch geschreven, werd speciaal voor dit boek vertaald.

H.P. Blavatsky was een van de stichters van de Theosophical Society in New York in 1875. In het Westen gaf ze een grote impuls door ideeën zoals karma, reïncarnatie, spirituele ontwikkeling en de zevenvoudige samenstelling van de mens meer bekendheid te geven; in het Oosten moedigde ze een heropleving van het oorspronkelijke hindoeïsme en boeddhisme aan. One hundred years after her death, Helena Petrovna Blavatsky remains one of the truly extraordinary figures of all time. HPB, as she is often called, stands forth as a seminal talent of her era. A trailblazer and a visionary, she co-founded The Theosophical Society in New York City in 1875, and more than any other person was responsible for the introduction of Eastern religious and spiritual thinking into the Western world. Her prolific writings opened a new realm of ideas and have influenced poets, writers, philosophers, and scientists up to the present day. All of her books, including the highly influential The Secret Doctrine, although first published over a century ago, are still in print and in ever-increasing demand.
Sylvia Cranston’s book, the first large-scale biography ever of HPB, took fourteen years to research and write. It focuses on the teachings HPB transmitted as well as on her fascinating life. It presents a record of her worldwide travels, especially in the Orient and in the Americas, and the important factors that shaped her life’s work. Invaluable source material originally published in Russia has been translated into English especially for this work. Cranston consulted hundreds of HPB’s letters, some newly discovered and others largely overlooked by previous biographers, thus providing a more complete and definitive portrait of this Russian noblewoman than has hitherto been available.

Our world is in great need of Theosophy
Theosophists from all four corners of the globe realize more and more that a vibrant and committed Theosophical Movement is instrumental in bringing the ancient teachings, that were gathered and reintroduced to us by H.P. Blavatsky in the late nineteenth century, to the minds and hearts of our fellow human beings
Ever since the foundation of the Theosophical Society in 1875, the modern Theosophical Movement was faced with many challenges. Nowadays and worldwide, a number of theosophical organizations do exist. Each one of these organizations, all by themselves, have developed and adopted typical ways of working for mankind. The raison d’être of each of these organizations lies profoundly in the living power of the theosophical teachings as they were presented by H.P. Blavatsky
Theosophists are aware of the challenges they are faced with, and the need for cooperation of cross-pollination among the mainstream organizations to fulfil their shared task in bringing Theosophy into the world. It is this weighty comprehension that has become the main motivation for the organizing of the yearly ITC conferences, i.e. International Theosophy Conferences, Inc. This yearly event is providing a platform whereby Theosophists inspire and support each other to become better workers for the cause of Universal Brotherhood
Since 2010 all lectures and panel discussions of each one of the ITC conferences have been broadcasted “live” via the internet; the publication of the ITC 2015 conference however is going to be the very first one, being a printed reflection
The 2015 conference was entitled:

It was subtitled:
What is our understanding of H.P.B.’s writings? How do they inspire all Theosophists, those affiliated with an organization or independent, to embody and transmit her timeless message to the modern world?

During ITC 2015 Theosophists from the mainstream organizations shared their views and values on what they consider to be the essence of H.P.B.’s message, the mission they see for their own particular organization and the Theosophical Movement as a whole, submitting means of keeping the teachings alive for future organizations
This publication assembles all these valued contributions. The result is a unique document that brings into practice of what was put forward in The Hague: an open and honest exchange, inspired by the collective desire to establish the practice of Universal Brotherhood
