In the Wisdom Traditions, the solstices and equinoxes, the four seasonal points, are sacred times that link us to the Universal Life. All cultures in ancient times venerated these seasonal transformations. Drawing from Egyptian, Buddhist, Taoist and Druid teachings, Gottfried de Purucker gives commentary on the inner meaning elaborating the esoteric depth of these sacred teachings

De Purucker distinguishes himself by the clarity with which he explains these teachings to his students and the accuracy with which he preserves their purity. These teachings were given at Point Loma, California in the early 1930’s to the esoteric group assembled there, in his capacity as Leader of The Theosophical Society and Outer Head of the Esoteric Section of The Theosophical Society, which positions he held from 1929 until his death in 1942

Wie heeft niet naar de sterrenhemel opgekeken en zich daarbij afgevraagd of er leven op andere planeten zou kunnen zijn? Voor een werkelijk goed gefungeerde visie zal eerst een aantal essentiële vragen beantwoord moeten worden. Bijvoorbeeld wat leven in feite is. Of hoe het universum is ontstaan en instandgehouden wordt.
In dit boekje worden de aard, de opbouw en de structuur van de planeten en hun bewoners verklaard. Daarbij staat het begrip evolutie centraal. Evolutie in de ware betekenis en in een groots kosmisch verband geplaatst. Het woord evolutie is afgeleid van het Latijnse ‘evolvere’ dat ont-plooien of uit-wikkelen betekent van wat innerlijk reeds aanwezig is. Dit boekje gaat niet alleen in op het zichtbare en meetbare, maar vooral op de processen die plaatsvinden in innerlijke werelden die wij met onze beperkte zintuigen en technologieën niet kunnen waarnemen.
De samenstellers van dit boekje, leden van een studiegroep van Stichting I.S.I.S., hebben bij hun onderzoek geput uit de kennis die de Theosofia biedt. I.S.I.S. staat voor International Study-centre for Independent Search for truth.
Het doel van de Stichting is het vormen van een kern van Universele Broederschap door het bestuderen en verspreiden van kennis over de geestelijke achtergrond van mens en kosmos, vrij van dogmatiek.
De Stichting tracht dit te bereiken via cursussen, lezingen, ondersteuning bij waarheidsonderzoek, het uitgeven, verkopen en uitlenen van boeken en tijdschriften en het stimuleren van de praktische toepassing van die kennis.Stichting I.S.I.S. is nauw verbonden aan The Theosophical Society (Point Loma – Blavatskyhouse The Hague).

Literatuurlijst

Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (1831-1891) werd geboren in Dnjepropetrovsk, Rusland (nu Oekraïne). Nadat ze 18 was geworden, reisde ze ruim 20 jaar over de hele wereld. Op zoek naar wijsheid en kennis kwam ze in contact met veel religieuze/mystieke tradities en ontmoette ze haar oosterse leermeesters.

Samen met H.S. Olcott en W.Q. Judge richtte ze in 1875 in New York de Theosophical Society op. De belangrijkste doelstelling van de Society is om de oude wijsheid onder de mensen te verspreiden zodat ze gaan begrijpen dat alle wezens met elkaar verbonden zijn en in essentie één.

Isis ontsluierd was haar eerste grote werk en werd gepubliceerd in 1877. Ze schreef daarna verschillende andere boeken waarvan De Geheime Leer het meest bekend is. Verder was ze redacteur van twee theosofische tijdschriften en schreef ook veel artikelen voor Engelse, Franse en Russische tijdschriften en kranten.
